Do we understand that America is not the New Jerusalem, or the kingdom of God? Even so, God has appointed the U.S. to help prepare the way for these. We don't have to be perfect to be used by God. In fact, everyone who has been used by Him, except One, Jesus, has had major flaws, and sins so that they needed His mercy and grace too. This is why Jesus said that we should not call any man "Father," or "Leader" because He is our Father and our Leader. Even so, as the Apostle Paul wrote that we are to imitate him as he imitated Christ, we do follow others as they follow Christ. However, this is not to expect them to be perfect, or to not make mistakes. We only follow others as we see our Leader in them. We cannot expect our country to be perfect either, because its made up of imperfect people, which includes us. But we should love the countries that God has placed us in, and show them the same grace that we too need. We should work for them to follow the Lord better, and for their appointed purpose. When the Lord comes and separates the nations into "sheep" or "goats," we should work that ours would be a "sheep" nation that has sought to love and serve Him as He so deserves.
