I just found out from Congregations for Kids (CFKNC.org) that right now there are fewer than 50 active foster homes in Mecklenburg county. This is the lowest number in over a decade. Bear in mind that there are around 500 children in the foster care system in Meck Cnty. You can then see what an immense crisis this is! Please pray! This is a nationwide problem, by the way, not just Meck Cnty. Anecdotally, I recently had a DSS worker in York County (where I live) BEG us to take a newborn baby. We are not even licensed anymore and we are “not young” shall we say. That’s how desperate they are to find foster parents!
