How did Jesus handle demons who spoke to Him? "Be quiet, and come out of him!" [23] Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, [24] saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” [25] But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” [26] And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. [27] Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.” [28] And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee. Mark 1:23-28 https://bible.com/bible/114/mrk.1.25.NKJV He didn't try to get information from them, such as to how they got there, or what 'authority' or legal right they had to be there, or even what their name was, and He didn't get the person that was oppressed by the evil spirit to repent or renounce something, or pray a prayer to be free. He commanded the demon to get out! He is our Master, we are His students, so we should follow His example. Yes I know of the instance with 'legion', and how He asked them their name (Mark 5:9, Luke 8:30). He didn't need that information to drive them out. It just doesn't say that in the text. I think He asked the demons to speak their name to show us that there were many there. And I am just as valid to assume that is why as one who thinks He did it to help Him drive it out. I think it is more valid to think He did it to reveal to us that there were many as that was the result of Him asking them their name. I am sure He probably already knew that before asking and He knew this would be recorded for our reading and learning in the Bible. Demons are liars, like their leader, satan, and I think it is foolish to try and get information from them. Just drive them out, by the authority given you, in the name of Jesus Christ, and by the Spirit of God.
