Learning the alphabet Yesterday I bought an ebook entitled, "You are the placebo: Making your mind matter". It may have been offered to me and brought to my attention as an ebook on sale. It's about the "placebo effect" -- with a claim to its high significance -- in health outcomes. I think the book will say that without use of a "sugar pill" placebo, the mind itself and what one thinks can have some similar effect as a placebo. People who think they will recover, recover because they think they will. I am NOT saying, "this is the final word", but I wondered if I might learn from whatever the book says. Well, I just accidentally deleted a detailed paragraph--trying again. Probably hours later in the day I was listening to a recording of preaching, and the preacher mentioned "verse 26" which I associated with the number of letters in the alphabet; then he said the word "word" and I wondered if the idea of the book was like a letter (in the healing alphabet). I know that believing is important and I believe that some people can believe for things (and others do not seem to know how to do that, probably including myself). I am NOT saying that the book "Placebo" is the final word. Off subject, perhaps, for a moment--in IHOP's prophetic history the received a book entitled "Placebo"--not the same book having to do with the church. I did not recall that until just now while writing this note. He said some people say, "don't accept it; don't confess it" as though saying or confessing it makes it so, but that's not so. It doesn't work that way. So those things were in consideration. I do not know "therefore what?". However, I did want to share these words. I wondered if believing in God's healing power could be a factor in stories in the Placebo healing book, whether that factor was stated in the book or not. The Lord loves you.
