ARE WE IN A TRADE WAR? Yes, but it started many years ago, and we have been losing it for decades because our national leaders did not understand it, or take action to defend our country. THE TRUMP TARIFFS ARE A SIGN TO THE WORLD THAT THE U.S. HAS AWAKENED WITH A TERRIBLE RESOLVE. The U.S. is holding virtually all of the ammunition in this war. From having the world's reserve currency, to having the largest and freest economy in the world, to being ahead in almost every economic parameter, there may never be a better time to have this showdown. World business was becoming no longer tenable for the U.S., and without the U.S. to plunder most of the world could not sustain its economy. This has to be reset, now. The only issue is if we have the will to fight to win. It can still be done in a way that the world will benefit from the new, more just order. WHAT IS THE WALL STREET PANIC ABOUT? The Wall Street panic about tariffs is evidence of how out of touch Wall Street is with Main Street. Even though a majority of Americans are invested in Wall Street, which is a good thing as this is investing in America, the leaders of Wall Street have such a short term perspective, they are virtually blind to the long term consequences and potential of what the tariff battle is about. One Wall Street spokesman claimed that the 1929 stock market crash was caused by tariffs. That's FAKE HISTORY! The Stock Crash of 1929 was the result of stocks having ascended in values that were completely disconnected to reality, reflected by a reasonable P/E ratio (Price/Earnings ratio). With stock prices having ascended to such thin air, when they started to falter, they came crashing down. THE PRESENT CORRECTION IN THE MARKETS MAY SAVE US FROM A SIMILAR DISASTER AS SUFFERED IN 1929. As stock prices connect to the new reality, it will ultimately benefit American business, and world commerce much more. This will allow stocks to rise even higher because they will have a more dependable foundation under them. Such a correction can also result in a recovery of the link between Wall Street and Main Street. This link will make what is good for Wall Street good for Main Street, which at present is rarely the case. Now companies can benefit from deals and associations with foreign interests that are not in America's interests. Having strong stock and bond markets are important. When they are properly aligned they represent the economic strength and value of America. The key word here is when they are properly aligned.
