It was an interesting service at The Gathering yesterday. I gave Aswan the freedom to plan and conduct the entire meeting, and I did not have any idea what he was going to do. It turned out to be quite remarkable. When I left at nearly 2pm people were still worshiping and ministering to each other. Aswan set up the stage like a welcoming front porch. I don't think I had talked to him about how we're planning to bring in sofas, comfortable chairs and settings, after the first of the year to give the feel of a home more than an institution. This is to facilitate the fellowship that can lead to the koninia we must have to "walk in the light," as we're told in I John 1:7. It may take us a little while to fully furnish it this way, and get used to it, but it will be worth it. Thanks to Aswan and all who came, some from hours away, to make it such a special day! Lord willing, I'll be speaking at The Gathering next Sunday to try to fortify the vision for next year. The Sunday after next, December 8, we will have a Moravian Love Feast--eating and fellowship, open to all who want to come. You can bring a special dish, or food to share with others if you can, but not required.
