Self-pity is demonic, and it can kill spiritual life. It works closely with the spirit of victimization, and it resists accountability, so it chooses isolation in order to perpetuate and grow. The end result of such things can lead to bitterness, resentment and a defiled heart that inwardly judges and condemns others. We all must beware of letting ideas grow in isolation without following the steps of Godly confrontation laid out in the epistle of Matthew, chapter 18. We must also note that a contaminated heart will tend to confront in order to control or bring condemnation, but Godly confrontation is always for the purpose of restoration and unity. I confess that I have fallen into some of these things in the past, but I renounce them and press on, asking God to cleanse me of all unrighteousness and thank Him for the blood of Jesus.
