THE HARVEST Part 2 Man was created at the end of the 6th day of creation, so his first day was God's 7th, or the day that He rested. So, for man to enter into fellowship with God he had to immediately enter into God's rest. This is still true. If we take His yoke, which is an instrument of work, we should find rest and refreshment for our souls, not get stressed out and burned out. This is a crucial truth as we become laborers in the harvest--the work of the Lord is not supposed to be done in our strength, but His. If we are yoked with Him, He will be the One doing the pulling. We can expect the harvest to build and grow, and ultimately get to the place where it seems overwhelming, but we must not get overwhelmed. What we try to do in our own strength will wear us out and make us less useful to the Lord. When this starts to happen we must recognize that we have somehow decoupled from the Lord's yoke, and are operating on our own. This will be one of the greatest dangers we will be facing, so we need to now fortify our daily devotions and the resolve to abide in the Lord in all that we do. Remember that Jesus did not respond to human needs, but He only did what He saw the Father doing. He did not come to show us how God lived, but how we are supposed to live--like Him in every way. We must not just engage to meet needs, but only those things He leads us to do. We must be quick to recognize the signs that we have drifted from this, such as exhaustion, loss of vision and the joy of the Lord. If we are yoked with Him we will be getting refreshed as we work, not getting weary or stressed. This we will probably need to be reminded of often. Be quick to repent and vitally reconnect to Him. Help others do the same when we see them succumbing to the temptation to just do what we see needs to be done. This can have us out of place for being used for what He would have us to do, which will be far more fruitful than anything we can do in our own strength.
