I don't recall a political party convention being anything close to as exciting, and moving as the recent RNC in Milwaukee. From the first speaker, and all of the entertaining interludes over the last, four days later, it was in a word, electrifying. Of course, the grand finale was the speech of the candidate himself, Donald Trump. He did not disappoint. He was a softer, but more serious, and even more determined candidate. With his family around him, and J.D. Vance as a most interesting and brilliant choice for running mate, he launches into his finale campaign, and finale term in the most important political office in the world at possibly the most critical time for the world. With the most unified Republican Party perhaps ever, being highly energized after perhaps the most successful convention ever, and their competition being perhaps the most divided and chaotic ever, its tempting to think the Republicans can sleep walk this one. We should consider how much the political landscape has changed in just the two weeks since the Trump-Biden debate. These are such volatile times, though it looks like we are headed for the biggest electoral landslide in history, it can still be a very different picture on election day, if Republicans make what has been one of the biggest mistakes possible, relaxing and dropping the guard. Don't worry, be happy, but maintain your vigilance. The fight is not over.
