Yesterday was a dark day that will lead to even darker days ahead. There has never been a trial to so shatter confidence in our judicial system like the Trump trial in Manhattan has done. That the verdict will be overturned is likely, but that will not repair the damage. That such a trial could happen in America, a firewall of justice in our land has been destroyed. Never has such a political weaponizing of our justice system, such obvious bias and disregard for justice, or basic due process, been on such open display, and flaunted in America. We can appreciate those who are trying to put the best face possible on this, that the country that won our independence against such odds, that fought and prevailed in a civil war, triumphed in WWI & II, will overcome this too. I'm not so sure that we can if we do not wake up to how serious a blow to our whole system of government this is. Abraham Lincoln said that America would never be defeated by a foreign enemy, but if we fall it will be by an enemy within. This is the most deadly enemy from within that we can face. No democratic government can survive the failure of justice. Thomas Jefferson warned that "judicial tyranny" was the most deadly enemy our Republic would face, and we have just suffered a political and judicial "Pearl Harbor" from this most deadly tyranny. This does have the power to destroy our Republic if we do not wake up to what just hit us. It is a basic military doctrine that you cannot defeat an enemy you do not see, and we must understand how deadly this evil is, and how fast it can bring us down. This is Jefferson's "judicial tyranny" at its worst, and we must strike back with the greatest resolve to completely destroy this deadly foe from our land.
