We often hear “people hate change.” But this is actually not quite true. People don’t hate change, people hate being changed. The resistance we often feel or see in others lies not in change itself, but in being coerced into it. It’s the process, the journey towards the new that stirs unease, especially when it seems it may not align with what we desire. However, in praying “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” we are actively calling for heaven to come to earth and that involves inevitable, massive change. The ability to continually adapt to change even when we don’t understand the basis for it is a testament to where our faith lies, and in whom it is actually anchored. “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” -Jim Rohn
