"The republic is the only form of government that is not at open or secret war with the rights of mankind." Thomas Jefferson If this is true, how is it that our republican form of government is constantly infringing on the rights of the people? I think what Jefferson said was ideally true, but we can have the best form of government and have bad government in we have bad people in it. There are many who have learned to gain a position in our government, and then use it to bring more control over the people than to protect the freedoms and rights of the people, which many now in our government seem to have forgotten, that defending the rights of the people are the main reason for our government's reason to exist.
