A few months ago, when I shared my experience here about a psych patient named Charles, I had no idea that I'd be returning to work there in just a few short weeks. The Lord must have put that on my heart to "mentally" prepare me for what was coming. I haven't been active on here lately as I'm working 12 hr night shifts and trying to adapt to sleeping in the daytime. Last week, I saw an image somewhere of a woman carrying vessels of water home that she drew from a well. I imagine that some of the water splished and splashed along her path since since it's not easy to contain water in motion. It was obviously a labor done out of both love and necessity in order to sustain not only her own life but the lives of her entire household and livestock. This morning, I came home from work exhausted and hit the resume button after youtube automatically paused the Bible verses that I had streaming in the house while I was gone. A movie about the life of Christ was just beginning as I laid down and it opened up with a scene of Mary carrying two heavy vessels of water when suddenly the angel Gabriel appeared to her. I fell asleep shortly after that scene, but when I woke up, I started writing about it in my journal and randomly opened my Bible at Isaiah 12:2-3 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid... With joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation. I find it interesting that that in preparation for the last supper that Jesus told his disciples that they would meet a MAN carrying a pitcher of water. Could this have been a sign for them that they were on the brink of something new? It was probably easy to identify him as the one they were looking for since men typically didn't carry water pots in that day and time. They followed the man into his house and there prepared the Passover meal as Jesus instructed. The water the man carried into the house is most likely the same water that Jesus used to wash the feet of his disciples who would soon receive the outpouring of the holy Spirit and themselves become as vessels of "living water" to carry and pour out the message of the gospel in power and authority to the ends of the earth. Luke 22:10-13: 10 And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. 11 Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ 12 Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.” 13 So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover. John 13:3-5 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; he riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that, he poured water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and wiped them with the towel with which he was girded. I just found it interesting, not that is the interpretation of it but what I personally got out of it today and wanted to share.
