"The Scriptures speak of three kinds of table fellowship that Jesus keeps with his own: daily fellowship at table, the table fellowship of the Lord’s Supper, and the final table fellowship in the Kingdom of God. But in all three the one thing that counts is that “their eyes were opened, and they knew him” Dietrich Bonhoeffer Of course these tables we share with the Lord are not just speaking of natural food, but much more so the spiritual. The Lord said that He gave the children of Israel manna in the wilderness to test them: "Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction" (Exodus 16:4-5). How did this test Israel to see if they would walk in the Lord's instruction? The same way that it tests us. Will we get up and first thing to gather fresh bread from heaven? If we don't do this we will likely drift from His ways. If we do this faithfully, and seek to encounter Him and get fresh food from heaven to begin our day, we will much more likely walk with Him throughout the day, and abide in His ways. Then our eyes will be open.
