"Innumerable times a whole Christian community has broken down because it had sprung from a wish dream (of men). God’s grace speedily shatters such dreams." Dietrich Bonhoeffer In my half-century of being a Christian I have seen this many times-human idealism, our own dreams of what a church or ministry should be, sidetracking and bringing to shipwreck many of the most zealous Christians and their works. Zeal is good, and essential for these times when most Christians are lukewarm, but the truly great works of this age are the dreams from God, not men. The Lord will bless our works done for Him, but He will bless many things He will not inhabit. We must mature beyond seeking the blessings of God and seek His presence, and we must let Him build His church. What men build for Him are usually just franchises. What He will build through us will be filled with His glory.
