“That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach.” –Aldous Huxley Having studied history nearly for 60 years, it is true statement that "Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it." Another has said that history is just the same story repeated over and over with different characters." All of this is true, but it is not the whole truth. The fact is that there has been remarkable progress in virtually every field of knowledge. The accomplishments of the human race are astonishing, has our character changed enough to keep up with them? As one observed, we now have the ability to destroy all life on earth without having increased in the wisdom needed to handle such a terrible responsibility. Therefore, the human race dangles over the edge of a terrible precipice, and every day has the potential to be our last. However, we have a Creator who has the power to stop us from destroying ourselves, and has the goodness to graciously promise to do so. He has demonstrated His love for the world and mankind in a way that we will marvel at for eternity. Let us take time every day to marvel at this, and seek wisdom from such a One who so obviously derives His joy from those who seek Him. Man's biggest failure was his first, thinking he could run the world without God. But we can change this by simply turning back to Him. The end of this age will be the lesson for all time that we cannot, and the answer to all of the crises that we have brought upon ourselves is found by turning back to Him. He's waiting with open arms.
