Tomorrow is South Carolina's presidential primary. The polls are predicting a big win for Trump over Nikki Haley, who was a former governor of South Carolina. So why can't she win her own home state, which is usually a given for former governors? It seems that the Republican voters are mad about two things: The first is that a high percentage of her votes are from Democratic crossovers, who do not really have a choice in their primary, so are crossing over to vote against Trump. This is now such a big factor that regardless of how well Nikki Haley does tomorrow, her showing will be tainted by the high percentage that voted for her were Democrats. Haley says this reflects her crossover appeal that will be needed to win the general election. Perhaps, but it is not sitting well with republicans here, and she may be losing more republicans because of this than she is gaining in crossover Democrats. The second, and perhaps biggest reason republicans here are not supporting their own former governor, is that some of her financial backers are the one's funding the legal war against Trump, as well as other leftest agendas. I have not personally seen conclusive evidence for this, but if this is true, it's understandable that this is a deal killer for conservative voters. A main reason for such a deep the loyalty for Trump here is that he did such a great job as president in all of the things that are the most important to voters now, especially the economy, the border, law and order, foreign policy, and defending America and American interests. Virtually everyone agrees they were much better off under Trump. The second reason why support for Trump is so deep and broad, is the way Trump is being attacked with spurious lawsuits and legal charges, by such an obviously politicized and weaponized Justice Department and legal system. Especially with Biden and other democrats getting away with so much worse, this is perceived as an attack against all of our freedoms, because if they can do this to Trump, a former president, all conservatives and non-conformists will be next. This is a blatant challenge to our Constitution, and our continued existence as a democratic republic. I agree with these reasons.
